So I know atoms been thinking of shrinking down guilds since they're too big for the popularity we have, so tell me what you think of this idea..

  • Clubs will be capped at 5 players. It will have all the regular guild functions. There will be a few initial guild achievements as well.
  • Current guilds will have all the members removed except for the GM/officers and if there are still more than 5, we will remove officers by alphabetical order.
  • Clubs cannot be disbanded without applying a new owner.
Stats/Competitions:

  • There are 2 sets of stats - monthly and all-time.
  • At the end of the monthly competition period (7 days prior to the last day of the month), there will be a playoff/tournament. Top 8 of each game moves forward.
  • Tournament is a FFA tournament. You have to play 10 games with different people/combinations in the top 8. Best records/points wins. All games have to be played. (need expanding/discussion)
  • Players also have stats as well that is relative to the club, such as games played, W/L/D, etc. These stats are reset if the player is removed from the club.
  • Players also have an all-time stats relative to clubs. So there WILL be a history kept.
  • There are no diminishing returns for playing the same player/club all the time.
  • Players from the same IP cannot play ranked games.
All games but Sphere Break and Chinchirorin are included in this system.

Formulas:

  • Win/Loss score: Points are earned (for ranking purposes) relative to the other individual/club record. The minimum is 2 points, the max is 50.
  • Performance Score: If you blow out your opponent, there is a bonus. This is a percentage bonus. Perfect games give 25%, next step down gives 10%, then 5%.
  • Points earned from these formulas are added to the monthly AND the all-time scores.
Games:

All games will require you to opt-in to a club ranked game. Unranked games are DEFAULT.

Let me know what you all think :)

Personally I think that at the moment the guild system seems to be stuck, idling along and doing nothing much.

I appreciate guilds are mainly groups of friends who enjoy playing with and talking to each other but with all the changes that are in progress at the moment (currently the new ranking system) it feels like it could be time for a shake-up and after all the new clubs would still be groups of friends playing and talking to each other just with an added reason to be part of one.

To expand on what Zero has posted I'll put in my 2 penneth worth.

I agree that due to the present population its wiser to start with small clubs. This will either mean that when player numbers pick up we'll have a greater number of clubs giving more competion or possibly the maximimum number of members could be adjusted if necessary.

The new clubs will still have the same functions as the current guilds with vaults, chat etc, so there wont be that great a change.

There will be some Club achievements added to make things even more competitive.

As I see it the new club system as it's been suggested would possibly bring back some of the good humoured competition amongst the guilds that's been missing for a while now but it wont stop individual players from organising their own tournaments if they wish to do so.

The game belongs to everyone who plays feel free to discuss, and make comments and suggestions. If you don’t voice your opinions we wont know what you want.

I really like this idea, and i say all members but the guild leaders are kicked, the guild leaders can fix the guild banks and give it around as they please.
And as for Club competition, i dont think this idea will be that hard to actualy pull throu but have
Club Tott battles where only the club members can join eachothers team(this will ofc be on the side of normal TOTT for normal battles) and have an ranking system out of that.
Club Triple Triad War should be possible aswell with team chat, and having the HP increase to its double size as both team members cards count where 200 is the biggest attack or defense.

I have stated most of my opinion in the GM forums, as they don't do a great deal of good by being viewable by everyone. However, I could elaborate on the main concept I always hold my guilds to, which will let people know if they have any desire to join my club.

Firstly as I said, I think 5 is too small. I understand that Guild Stacking and possible Multiple Accounts is quite an issue - in my short time as a GM I've noticed a lot of activity which can only be described as suspicious, at best. However, 5 people is not a guild, 5 people is an RP party... I do agree the guilds need to be smaller, but my ability to serve my guild is greatly impaired by this low figure, in some ways at least.

Basically I am of the belief that a Guild Leader is not a Title of Honour, but a responsibility... The purpose of guilds is so that players who can provide aid to others have the opportunity to discover who within the game shares their ideals and commitments, helping form very efficient groups that can do eachother a lot of good.

For starters, my guild members recieve discounts on all my cards, based on their rank within the guild, which ranges from a starting rank, through 3 special ranks, up to someone I consider an 'Officer' if you prefer that phrase.

With only 5 people, I can narrow my roster down to an excellently cultivated team of players and I can organise a variety of activities and games for them out of my own pocket, this is true. However, with so few members I cannot afford to promote people who cannot regularly return the discount and tournament privileges, as I would end up with a roster full of people that all get incredible benifits from me.

I cannot simply tell them that their contributions to my own progress (which I give my word, earns you great benefit in many various ways) are going to be disregarded because I don't have the gifts to give away... They have joined under an understanding I set forth in honour and if I were to avoid these problems by only promoting one or two people, the whole reason to join the guild and gain greater favour and standing is rendered moot.

Basically, as a Guild Leader who believes in the sanctity and strengths of properly maintained guilds, which are not designed purely to help people race ahead, stack, make use of multiccounts... It all crumbles at our feet.

To summarise, I approve of the proposed changes and I understand the reasons, but I beseech thee sincerely... Always consider the improvement of the guild structure if a time comes when you feel it is worth our time to develop... Guilds are more than a militray structure, more than a community of friends, more than a way to loophole a gme's rules, but a family. A family in which the elder members can help their lessers equal the guild standing, a family whos members genuinly sees the benefit of using their personal resources to help their comrades, or even help newcomers and convert them to loyal, helpful players who can improve the community as a whole...

My words are draped in vernaculate silks, they sound poetic and superficial, but though I speak in tongues un familiar, I choose my words to a purpose and all the above means many angles of each issue I raise. Obviously I'm just sounding like a pompous hippy, but I really do think the system should be tweaked, if only over time, to facilitate these kind of guild and player values.

That's my input :p

I am sure I could have done this more detailed and added more too, but just shooting it out for now to at least give more discussion. Might come back to it later.

While I do think you got a bit of mumbo jumbo tossed in there Yik, you have a small point and I think I can help take care of that issue.

To start off, I do think this whole thing is a good idea of fully thought through from all angles. So putting up what it looks like I see so far that people want and this idea in general:

  • New club system (Which gives me the feeling of some football style league going or basketball with the 5 people) takes guilds and pretty much adds achievements and stats. Also adding tourneys which at the moment from what is put up, looks like they will pretty much give achievements so I will keep these tourneys with the achievement category.
  • Restriction of club members while others (Well Yik really atm but there may be more) would rather have more for whatever personal reasons and just the fact that having more friends together would be nice.
  • Well, see no three just yet.

So then, what possible improvements do I think would be good? Do tell if you agree or disagree and why naturally.

  • New club improvement system: Just like AA and VA; start up a CA. This can be used for:
  • Increasing club vault size
  • Giving club members boosts on an elemental attack in war (Can take these boosts pretty far and in the future, may be quite nice eh Atom? ^_~)
  • Increasing amount of club members
  • Give club members boosts on gold or higher rare chance when buying packs for limited time.
  • The CA System: Instead of just using experience to get these points, winning games will be vital to earning these points. Also, each person to receive benefits will need a certain requirement met within their stats. IE Increasing club vault size the first time (Gives 25 slots?) will require 3 members in club and a total of 50 wins total. Second time, 4 people in the club with each member having 50 wins (Increases vault by 50?). Too add an additional member, 5 members must be in your club and there is a total of 100 games won in each game between all of your members.
-This is just a possible way to run this and still needs further thought-
  • Add some extra benefits/prizes for these tourneys. Achievements are fun and all but currently, it looks like they will want more incentive to keep active and do these tourneys. (Could have a system set up where total number of games played in the tourney = prize level)
  • Clubs can have a stat sheet as well with the total of all the players (Though I assume this would show up anyways). This could be used to show top ranking/strongest guilds.
  • Tourneys should be designed to be within clubs only (Perhaps that is already the idea but I see FFA and "Needing discussion" so adding either way). If there is an issue with people not playing and then needing to decide who goes onto the next round, could setup something where the most active person (Not idle) in game advances. Though maybe the opt in function takes care of that.

Edit: Could make a basic level system too naturally for the club.
