I think you should take this rule out of the game completely. It's sole existence is being used in an abusive manner, helps people cower behind their skill ranking. This defeats the entire purpose of skill ranking.

It won't be. And it is part of the rank penalty.

It's always easy to play at least one game a day you're 99% ensured to win (you never know when your mouse may slip!), but you do what you think needs to be done. (I'm obviously referring to TT only, there is no rank freeze for the other games, from what I know).

99%? Show me the math formula you used.

You're right, it may have been higher. Say I have 5 CC cards. It's easy enough to win at least one game, and get at least one newbie to play such a game. After I've one that game, I can rank freeze the rest of the games I play and retain my skill ranking. This can very easily be put into practice. The same would work for me an atom's no cross, starter me.

see what happend to Gambit *he used it always* .. where is he .. got bored of this rule and i dont see a problem with this rule. oh and you can have just 4 CC cards only with no dupes just 2.

It doesn't matter if they get tired of the rule. The problem stands. Did you see how long Gambit was up there on top? Just because it took him a couple months to get bored with it, doesn't change the fact it was a problem. Just because a bank is only robbed for one month by one particular thief, doesn't mean another thief won't take his place. The bank has to up its security. The same goes for this situation. And though the 4 CC may not work (and who's to say they'll add the no dupes rule?), the Atom's No Cross, Starter would work (or level max level 6, open rule set which newbies are prone to joining). If he's not going to change it, it's not because it's not a problem.

I completely agree with Andrew, although the recent rank changes are great and do a big part in helping with this problem, this one step would complete it. I do understand the reason for the rule, it allows players to play Triple Triad just for fun, maybe goof around and play 5 Funguars against 5 Geezards with every rule on, whatever you want to do. But if you feel the rule needs to stay, why not rank freeze the other games with the exception of Chinchiorin and Triple Triad Memory. Sphere Break and OTT are games that have editable options and I would find use in being able to try new things in those games without putting a ranking score on the line.

Or maybe it should cost 25 gp from the table creator each game. ; )
